Time for another post 😃
We set off from the end of the world to Nantes on July 20. But before that, we made a stop in Carnac to see the standing stones that somehow ended up there! We weren't too excited about it in the car, but Cindy was totally fascinated by it. After Steffi finally found a parking spot, Cindy got out and took it all in!
After that, we headed to Camping Nantes. It's a deluxe campsite, we even received bracelets like in an all-inclusive vacation.
We played mini-golf and tried out the pool, which we liked. In the evenings, there was entertainment and we watched that too. The magic show was difficult to understand since it was all in French.
The highlight was visiting 'The Machines of L'ile'. We really wanted to see the giant elephant and the other animals (spider, sloth, hummingbird) that all work with machines. We also wanted to go on the three-story carousel of the water worlds.
The line for tickets was very long. We wanted to get an overview first and we walked past some people, and Cindy talked to one of the staff and asked something. Suddenly, we were at the cash register and I got in for free because I was Cindy's companion in her car 😃 and less than 5 minutes later, we were inside and took the guided tour instead of probably waiting for an hour like others... I also got into the carousel for free 👍🏼
The tour was great even though we didn't understand anything again, but we could watch and be amazed. It's impressive what they've recreated there with machines.
The carousel is three stories tall, 25 meters high (here I had my fear of heights again) and each level had something to ride and each animal could do something different. The kids were totally excited and each child got to ride once (included in the price). Since I didn't want to, Elisa rode twice.
The giant elephant also passed by us and we were able to take good photos from above the carousel and from below. Originally, the plan was to see all of that and then go to the city for a stroll, but we spent over 4 hours there and didn't feel like going to the city anymore. We preferred to go back to the campsite and go to the pool there.
The next destination was supposed to be Bordeaux. In the evening, Cindy and I decided that we wanted to go to the beach already. It wasn't easy to find a place. When we left, we drove towards the Atlantic coast without accommodation and finally got a confirmation after probably 10 rejections.
PS: I think from now on, Steffi won't be freezing at night anymore and will eventually wish that it's only 18 degrees in the motorhome at night 😜
