Finally, here we go!

Pubblicato: 13.07.2023

We finally started...

Small update: we have made the difficult decision to embark on the journey with only two teenagers instead of three. Our little dog Loki has booked 6 weeks all-inclusive with Andrea. He will be pampered and spoiled and not exposed to the intense heat in Southern Europe. We think we are doing him a favor. Steffi was the first to not mind, and she already started crying and missing the little rascal. But shhh.

Yesterday, 12.07., we happily started in Hamburg around noon. We quickly refueled and checked the tire pressure. And then we're off. Our destination was Ghent, Belgium, 647 km away. We only wanted to make progress on the first day to arrive in Paris the next afternoon. After almost 9 hours of driving, we arrived safely in Ghent. The campsite was beautifully arranged, we could have stayed there for a few more days, but not us. Since the girls don't want (can't) sleep together in one bed, one had to sleep on the floor, because we didn't want to set up the tent for just one night. Before I sleep on the floor... but I'm not in puberty either 😅. So the four of us slept in the motorhome and surprisingly everyone slept well. The next morning we set off early (8:30 am) for Paris, Vive la 🇫🇷.

We bought a toll box specifically for some countries and in France we were looking forward to the toll station to see if it really works. The joy was great when it actually worked and the barrier opened for us to continue. The joy lasted until we saw the bill after the exit (26€ for about 150 km).

Around 1 pm we finally arrived and immediately set up the tent (the girls were just nagging. One was constantly offended) and the big girls tried to set up chairs, tables, etc. and were no better with their quarrels than the little ones. It can definitely only get better... We also need a new cable reel because Steffi drove over it while driving forward and now it is totally dented and can neither be unrolled nor rolled up (thank goodness it happened to her and not us, haha).

After that, we headed towards the Louvre. What we experienced with buses and metros, and what it's like to be a VIP guest with Mona Lisa, will be continued in the next part. Now we are done and just want to sleep for now.

In this sense

Bonne nuit!
