Today we continued on to Sinop. Again, beautiful landscapes, mountains, valleys, vast fields - Turkey is huge and has a very diverse vegetation.
We also picked up a Turkish hitchhiker. When he got in, he mentioned something about 'Petrol', and we thought he wanted to go to the nearest gas station. But eventually, he wanted to get off and pointed in the direction we were already heading, mentioning 'Petrol' again. We nodded in understanding and said goodbye...
And as expected, we had another technical problem today. After hitting a small bump in the road, the engine sounded different, didn't perform as well, and the coolant temperature went up. Occasionally, it would perform better again, but most of the time it wasn't running smoothly...
At some point, I checked the air filter and diesel supply, and decided to replace the filter while I was at it. Hm, it seemed to run a bit better afterwards, but I couldn't bring the temperature back down to the previous level, and the power wasn't consistently available either.
What is the connection between engine performance, temperature, and a small impact? Tomorrow is another day...
At least we still reached our destination in Sinop, covering a distance of 423km.
In the evening, we had Mantisi at the 'Sinop Örnek Manti' restaurant, which is somehow reminiscent of Ravioli with yogurt poured over it. It's really delicious and affordable. We actually met some young people there who spoke English and were very helpful to us. Great place, highly recommended... Afterwards, we took a little stroll in the city and saw some sights...Nice city, although the traffic is quite hectic and chaotic...
