At 4:30 am, we will be picked up from the hostel and go to the El Tatio geyser by van. We are glad that this time we don't have to drive ourselves, but can use the ride to catch up on some sleep.
Just in time for sunrise, we arrive at the geyser in freezing temperatures, along with what feels like 200 other tourist buses. If you ignore all the tourists, the spectacle is quite impressive. The geysers spout smoke and water into the air, everywhere bubbles and steams, and as the sun rises, it quickly gets warmer.
On the way back, we also get to see some of the impressive and sometimes not so dry landscape. Along the way, we also encounter llamas, vicuñas (a mix between llama and alpaca), chinchillas, and flamingos.
In the evening, we will go on an astro tour.
