Actually, the plan was to drive into the Fitzgerald River National Park today from the west. However, due to the bad weather, we finally decided to continue on to the Stirling Range. During dinner in the camp kitchen at the campground, we learned that all access roads and campsites had been closed this morning due to heavy rainfalls yesterday. So we saved a few kilometers of gravel road.
Upon arrival in the Stirling Range, we headed to Mount Trio. When we started hiking, we still had some hope of a view. But the higher we climbed, the deeper the clouds came. Soon we were right in the middle of it. We still continued to the summit, but there was nothing to see. And that didn't change for the next few hours either.
Afterwards, we used the bad weather to catch up on neglected duties and washed our bed linen. We hope for good weather tomorrow because we want to climb the highest peak here.
