Hello dear readers,
Final spurt! OLE MISS BOUND! It's now less than two weeks until departure. The suitcase is mostly packed, all the tickets and documents are ready. The emails from the International Office are increasing (organization, organization, and more organization). The shuttle will pick me up at 8:30 p.m. at the airport in Memphis. Then 1.5 hours to Oxford. After that, we would even have the opportunity to go to Wal-Mart, but I think I'll skip that :) One tradition at Ole Miss is that new students receive an "Ole Miss Bound" sign to take a photo with. It shows the anticipation and strengthens the community. We received the sign by email and were allowed to participate.
Otherwise, there isn't much new to report. The first football tickets have been ordered. The calendar is filling up with trips and appointments. My insurance has now been officially recognized. It saved quite a bit of money, all the effort. Course selection, as expected, will prove to be one of the most difficult things, but I'm sure it will be sorted out on site. At least the Business Department recently checked whether we have the necessary prerequisites for the desired courses.
Some of the readers already have my new American number. Through the J1-Sim provider, I discovered Rebtel. With the app, users can call each other for free worldwide. And apparently, it only uses 66 KB per call. It's probably the cheapest option for calls home. I will definitely test it before spending money (only $4 per month). I have already installed the app, but you have to enter your phone number there (Captain Obvious at the start^^), and I will only do that with my American number from August 9th. I will keep you updated on whether this is a real alternative.
Last weekend was my farewell and birthday party. I would like to thank everyone who was there. It was really fun, and I was really happy to see all of you again. The next 5 months without you won't be easy, and I will miss you! Some more than others ;) Thank you for the great gifts and the time we shared! Honorable Mention: the towel detail on the Cam figurine is awesome! A big thank you to everyone who helped with the setup or teardown.
That's it from me. From now on, the posts will hopefully be more frequent. However, I will not post a link on Facebook every time. Just check back regularly :)
Best regards
Franz
