Hey, today we're talking about my final application for my year abroad. The nightmare for every exchange student. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures for you because it's all quite private and I have no idea if that would be okay with my organization.
Some time after the first seminar, the application documents arrived. I think the deadline for submission was about a month after I received all the stuff. And I can tell you it was sooo much. To list a few points: I had to get a 'letter of recommendation' from a teacher, had to indicate my grades from the last four years, had to write a letter to the host family, which was a huge pressure because it gives the first impression after the application photo, my parents had to write a letter to the host family, had to have my doctor fill out countless forms about my health, had to disclose all sorts of information about myself, and more.
As I said, it was a lot of effort and I wouldn't have been able to do it on time without my mom's help. It should be mentioned that the deadline wasn't strictly enforced, so one or two weeks later wouldn't have been a problem either.
When I pressed 'send', a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders, all the stress of the past weeks was gone and the hardest part of the application was done. Some time later, I received feedback and had to make some improvements, which I think is very good because the organization wants to prevent an incorrect application from being sent to the host country.
Then the waiting began. More in the next post.
