The name is from the tour booklet of the hotel, it’s difficult from the profile and between 260-320 km long depending on the variant. We can't ride it exactly as it was planned, because the Gavia Pass is impassable.
So we start again via the Reschen Pass, this time with a short photo stop. Then we turn right towards the Umbrail Pass, which winds up with some very tight bends. It's quite busy here, especially with many cyclists who have to be overtaken. It’s not a problem for us with the motorcycles, but it is for the cars, which take up more space on the narrow bends of the pass road than there actually is.
Then we turn onto the Stelvio, it's really busy here! On the plateau at the top, there's hardly any room left, so we drive back to the hut 100 m before to have a coffee.
Unfortunately, on the descent to Bormio, I have bad luck, a nice Porsche driver pushes me almost onto the shoulder in the middle of a right-hand bend, I try to cope with the now extremely tight curve and oncoming traffic and fail. At least I was able to lay the bike down in a controlled manner, and thanks to several helpful people, it was quickly back on its wheels. Unharmed except for a few scratches. Nevertheless, there's anger (the pusher just kept driving) and shock. In Bormio, we treat ourselves to a longer lunch break and watch the many beautiful vintage cars driving through the town for a rally. Great and very well-maintained treasures one after the other!
Then we continue refreshed to the Focula do Livignio, to the Bernina Pass and then via Martina (border crossing), the Norbertshöhe back to Nauders. There's not much traffic on this part of the route, so we can really let the Harleys run and have a lot of fun! On the last kilometers, thunderclouds chase us, but we are faster 😉. When we enter the hotel room, it starts raining and storming for a while before the sun shines again 😊. It was about 260 km today in bright sunshine, and even at over 2000 m altitude, you could enjoy the coffee without a warming jacket ☀️😊
