Unfortunately, the winter in Victoria is just as rainy as in Vancouver (even though the bus driver I chatted with thinks it rains here a lot less).
But there are also beautiful days here and I was by the water on one of those days. Oak Bay is located on the mainland side of Victoria and on clear days you have a great view of the mountains of the US state of Washington in the distance.
The beaches on Vancouver Island that I've seen so far look different than the ones in the north. They are not pure sandy beaches, but there are driftwood and pieces of wood everywhere. A paradise for crafters, imagine all the things I could make from the wood :)
Another difference is the seaweed. Huge seaweed. And when I say huge, I mean huge! At first, I mistook the seaweed for more pieces of wood until I saw a broken one and realized it wasn't wood.
A little further in Oak Bay Marina, some seals live there and the shop sells fish to feed them. We had to try it out and as soon as we stepped on the pier with the bag, the seals swam towards us and popped out of the water :)
