After breakfast we start to Bratislava. The biggest problem is to find a parking space there. We are lucky and find one near the old town, even though it is not cheap. You can easily reach all important sights on foot. First we walk towards the Danube and across the 'New Bridge'. It is known for its futuristic supporting structure with a panoramic restaurant on the 95 m high pylons. From the bridge you have a wonderful view of the castle. We walk back and stroll through the streets of the old town with its historical sights. We pass by the Slovak National Theater, beautiful palaces, St. Martin's Cathedral and the Old Town Hall.
At Café Meyer Gerhard has an appointment with "Schöner Náci".
We continue through the pretty streets with their numerous coffee houses and restaurants.
For lunch we also settle down in a street restaurant. We also take a look inside the oldest grocery store. After three hours we have had enough, even though there is no tourist hustle and bustle here.
Since we are in the wine region, we still want to explore the area a bit. We drive through different wine villages to Bibersburg. You can reach the entrance gate via an ancient linden alley. In the castle courtyard there is a fountain with a rearing deer above a cartwheel. There is also a large, beautifully designed outdoor area with various souvenir stands. In a vinotheque in one of the castle towers we buy wine.
In Piesok, on the heights of the White Carpathians, we take a break at a natural swimming pool.
Finally, we stop in the wine village of Modra, but it doesn't have much to offer either.
In the evening we look for a restaurant to eat.
That's the end of our days in Slovakia.
We still have two overnight stays in Austria and then we go home.
