From the Cameron Highlands, it is about 200km south towards Kuala Lumpur. We have reserved two beds in a 14-bed dorm and I am sleeping on the THIRD floor of the bunk bed. You have to perform truly athletic feats to get up there. Once you are up there, you naturally think twice before leaving the bed.
Actually, not much happens in KL that day. We stroll past the numerous market stalls near the hostel, which unfortunately all sell the same thing. Fake handbags, shoes, shirts, belts, wallets, sunglasses. Although I'm in a shopping mood, there is really only junk. Well, money saved again.
In the evening, we go to a small restaurant where freshly made ramen is served and it tastes incredibly good! And it is interesting to watch the man in the kitchen pulling the noodles apart repeatedly until they are thin enough and end up in the boiling water.
The next day, we are continuing our journey to Borneo! The flight is supposed to leave at 4 p.m. Unfortunately, we only receive the email about the flight being delayed by an hour (which of course doesn't stay that way) when we are already on the bus to the airport. So, we have a nice day at the airport ahead of us. Let's look at the positive side: At least I can make progress with my book. And for the first time in Malaysia, we treat ourselves to Western food. Burgers from Texas Chicken. Finally, at around 6 p.m., our plane takes off towards Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Borneo.
