This time, Michael and I (Christoph) didn't travel on our own motorcycles or by car train. Instead, we loaded the motorcycles onto a trailer and drove to Kötschach-Mauthen in Carinthia by car. This way, we save time by taking turns driving and we spare the tires and brake pads of the motorcycles, which will be put to the test throughout the trip.
We spent the night in a tent here and started the next morning with the motorcycles. Unfortunately, it had rained quite a bit during the night. The first tour took us through Italy and Slovenia to Croatia. We were sent off with the words: 'Have fun, where you're going today, it's going to be wild.' That referred to the rain and it wasn't completely a lie. At least until noon, it poured down and we got quite wet.
Michael planned the route using Motoplaner, and we navigated using maps and GPS, on which the planned tours were uploaded.
In Croatia already, we felt like we were in a different world. The people on the roadside and in their gardens greeted and waved at us. When we looked at the map somewhere without knowing where to go, people came up to us without being asked to help us. Just awesome. We were not able to reach the Plitvice Lakes as planned today, so we decided to use the campsite in Ogulin. We couldn't find it directly, so a young local offered to lead us there. He rode ahead on his two-stroke and apparently had to show off a bit, driving through the village at 75 km/h while greeting numerous people.
The campsite is relatively small and equipped with very new sanitary facilities. The owner is extremely friendly, so it's highly recommended.
Oh, for those who are interested, this time I'm riding a Yamaha XTZ 660 Tenere, model year 1992, and Michael is on his KTM 950 Adventure, model year 2003.
