The previous blog post already prepared you, our readers, a little for this. After eventful days on the tour, the blog posts should become shorter and less frequent. ;)
We are doing quite well on Koh Chang, the island that measures 30x13km at its longest and from above has the shape of an elephant. But we're not quite sure if that's where the name comes from. ;-) Nice weather, a relaxed time, and the villa with its own pool as accommodation clearly support the currently slowed down feeling of life.
Nänz was already on Koh Chang in 2011 and noticed the progressing tourism and development of the island already on the ferry ride. A lot has happened in the past five years and the island in the Gulf of Thailand is now much more built up and lively on its main side. A benefit for the local economy, especially dependent on tourism, and no disadvantage for us (at the moment). Many people simply like to travel and visit beautiful places. Therefore, we took the scooter or organized our own boat through a former local acquaintance for remote corners and quiet moments. Far away from the emerging mass tourism. So we were also on a tiny and uninhabited island for an hour, like Robinson and Friday. However, a big strategic advantage for us was that we could coordinate our 'rescue' in advance.
Tomorrow we will go on the boat again with our captain to see Koh Mak. We are excited and will provide some pictures afterwards.
Until then - your vacationers!
