Waking up in the countryside, the rooster crowing and the sun slowly filling the land with light, dreamlike! Nevertheless, after breakfast we had to say goodbye with a magnificent view. Since we really like France, we decided not to drive directly to Spain, but to take a little more time in France.
After contacting the absolute experts on France, Nadine and Sven, we decided to head for the Loire Valley. We went south past Paris and then towards Orleans. Since we have currently deactivated toll roads on the navigation system, today we were able to see many meadows, small villages and sunflower fields. In the first 30 minutes, you can't get over the wow factor, after an hour everything is quite nice, and after two hours you wonder where all these potholes in the road come from...
We crossed the Marne, the Seine, and finally reached the Loire. In Chateuneuf sur Loire, we went to the tourist office to get an overview of our spontaneously added destination. The lady in the office was great, fully equipped, we continued.
Unfortunately, the free parking space in the town was very uneven and we couldn't level it with our chocks, so we drove to a spot in the next village. A picnic area right on the Loire, equipped with tables and benches, what more could you want. We quickly unstrapped our bicycles to explore the village. In the town center, we first visited the boulangerie and across the street was a boucherie. Various sausages were displayed, various trophies adorned the sales counter. We stocked up on sausages, we had also bought bread. Done, time for an apéritif. In the village pub, we finally got the long-awaited pastis, woohoo!
As we sat there and looked at the boucherie, I thought I could google what the master butcher was awarded for. Sometimes it would help not to want to know everything...the speciality sausages we bought were offal sausages.
End of the evening: The sausages were not to my taste... Oh well, we tried them. Good night from the banks of the Loire!
