When I hold the map of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in my hands, I decide to first look for the collection of musical instruments. After asking several times, I found this too. The musical instruments are well exhibited and I can also find audio samples for some of them (you get a good impression of what the instruments can sound like, but they are also historical instruments that can no longer be tuned correctly in all cases, I assume).
I'll then look at a few more things in the American art section. You can probably look at this section alone for days, weeks or months. And I actually find some baskets from Native Americans and, particularly interestingly, “modern” baskets made from various materials, including film and negative strips.
