Welcome to Windhoek on the eleventh of August 2018. After a total of 22 hours of travel and some problems with visas & co, we finally arrived at the Petersen family, who will provide us with shelter for the next year. Immediately, we realized that this year will be exhausting but also very interesting, thousands of new impressions flooded us and are waiting to be discovered.
After the first night, which we spent shivering (the temperature drops to around two degrees at night and there are no heaters), we decided to go to the mall and equip our household a bit and maybe buy a blanket to avoid freezing.
One thing we quickly noticed is how warm and welcoming the Pietersens are, and especially how helpful they are. Whether they drive us to the mall, play with the children, or Richard (the family father) drives us to every single deployment site and shows us the best places to eat to show us 'Namibia in a nutshell,' as he likes to say. And so it happens that all three vegetarians give up their existence on the second day in this distant land to try the delicacies.
I am excited to see what this country, which welcomed us so warmly, will show and teach us.
