Today we made our way on the Pacific Highway to Monterey. Unfortunately, we were initially welcomed by gray clouds.
Near San Simeon, we initially made a slightly longer stop at Elephant Seal Vista Point. Nature lovers on site distributing information sheets explained to us that sea lions give birth to their young here. At peak times, there are over 10,000 animals on site.
We continued to Big Sur, a region on the coast of California. The nature is breathtaking. By now, the sun was also shining more and more. We had lunch at Lucia Lodge and treated ourselves to two delicious burgers with a beautiful view. A few kilometers later, we also saw the spot where the highway was completely closed a few weeks ago due to a landslide. At the current time, the cleanup work was still in full swing. So we were lucky again.
The weather cleared up completely. We also had a better view of the sea. The highlight of the region was the Bixby Bridge, a reinforced concrete arch bridge built in 1932.
In the early evening, we arrived at our accommodation, the Green Gables Inn in Pacific Grove, a city near Monterey. A lovingly furnished house right on the Monterey Bay, which had only a very small number of rooms to offer. Definitely recommended to stay there.
The deer that just strolled through the neighborhood and helped themselves to the plants in front gardens were also very cute.
Later in the evening, we spent some time at the Bulldog Pub. Of course, it was an ideal time before a boat tour the next morning...
