Day 44-48 - Waipara Garden's

Publicado: 18.12.2017

After the rainy Wednesday, we are slowly but surely preparing for the new chapter. During a walk on the beach after the storm, we also see a shark for the first time!

Afterwards, we move into a house in Waipara for two weeks, where we will also work.

Just in time for 'Pizza Thursday', we are warmly welcomed into the big family from the very first moment. And so, after a few short conversations with William and Sarah, we find ourselves at the table with 12 other people, including two more WWOOFers from Scotland. It turns out that the whole family is supposed to gather in this beautiful log cabin in the next few days: four sons with partners, including four children, plus the four of us WWOOFers and of course, William and Sarah - 18 people! And all sitting at one table. Imagine having a family gathering and it's completely normal for four strangers to be sitting at the table. Somehow strange, but the turkey still tastes good :)

We are slowly getting familiar with the individual tasks and a certain routine is setting in. At the weekly farmer's market, our business skills are immediately put to the test, where we can also improve our English. Finally, next week, we will sell vegetables at the market together with our Scottish colleagues.

Of course, we are not only here to work, there is also plenty of time for leisure. The beach is not far away, so we try to celebrate the third Sunday of Advent properly.

We explore the nearby area together with Bruce.

On Monday, we have to say goodbye to the family - not because we are leaving the house, but because the family is going on a vacation. After the door closes behind them, the vacuum cleaner and various cleaning rags are immediately brought out to clean the house properly (at least to the point where one can live in it normally). Suddenly, we have the huge house and garden with the greenhouses, Bruce, the cats, turkeys, chickens, and ducks all to ourselves! After the rather hectic past few days with the extended family, finally a quiet moment :)

In the next few days, we will try to complete Sarah's to-do list as best as we can and enjoy our time here.

See you soon!
