Lagodechi

Publicado: 02.09.2023

Then it was time to get out of the city and into the pasture. We weren't sure if we should really go to Lagodekhi (which is in the last corner before Azerbaijan) but it turned out to be a really good idea. When you wake up there is a direct view of the Great Caucasus, for breakfast you have “Nasoki” and eggs. Nasoki - actually called Kada - is a mini bun filled with raw streusel dough - extremely delicious, but definitely worth repeating. The visitor center of the national park surprises us with a very helpful German-speaking employee, who immediately tells us that the storm in the previous days unfortunately does not allow a hike to the waterfall. However, a hike through the forest with an unexpected swim in the mountain stream makes up for it all. On the hike back I accidentally stepped on a slow worm and the tail fell off very quickly. However, this turns out to be another highlight for Michel, as he has always wanted to see it anyway. The next day there was a short walk on the nature trail and later another swim in the mountain river and a round of cycling to get supplies. That turned out to be extremely tiring and the (booze) idea of cycling from Georgia back to Germany was then abandoned. Little quote from Michel that day: "I don't like it when you don't listen to good music." Realization these days: Camper life is, by the way, heavily dependent on good water sources and it's certain - a 100 liter tank gets empty pretty quickly. So if there is no hose, it is filled with a specially built funnel. Then it becomes clear how well the design really works. We continued on to Gremi. There is an interesting fortified church there. The bats sleep in the tower staircase - another animal highlight. Finally, we sleep one more night next to Lake Ilia - which is really not suitable for swimming.
