Shkodra is a cozy, chaotic city with a great, oriental-inspired atmosphere on the Albanian border with Montenegro.
We stayed at an artistically inspired hostel called 'Mi casa es tu casa' for 5 euros per night + breakfast there.
The hostel is run by Alba and her daughter.
There is a very pleasant atmosphere among the hostel staff / volunteers and the guests.
After arriving, we first explored the area and found a cozy bazaar.
In the clubs and bars on the main street, we could only find MEN, no matter how hard we tried.. After a while, we finally found a bar/restaurant where there were also women and settled there for coffee and crepes.
Guess who came to our table shortly after..?!
Of course.. Marlies and Flo, the cyclists! :D
They had taken a week off in Podgorica and assumed we were already in Greece (we had thought the same about them because we travel slowly).
They had Hui from Singapore and Danny from England with them.
It turned out that they had all checked in at our hostel.
Later, another Albanian friend of theirs joined us, whom they had met in Podgorica.
That evening, we all went to another bar with women - the local girl knew the place ;) - and had a really nice evening until around 1:30 am.
The next morning, Marlies, Flo, and Danny left for Tirana. But we arranged to meet them again at a hostel in Tirana and celebrate Christmas together.
