To Astrid Lindgren (08.08.2018)

Publicado: 29.09.2018

Today our day started at 9 o'clock. Marek made coffee, so all I had to do was slip out of my sleeping bag and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. That's the good life! :)

Then after breakfast, we packed up our things to continue our journey.

First, we went to 'Astrid Lindgren's Näs'. The museum that tells the story of her life and everything around it. As students, we had to pay 140 Kronen, which is about 14€, including the audio guide. However, for the price, I expected more than what we actually got to see. The price only included a small museum and admission to some old houses that used to be part of Astrid Lindgren's parents' farm. If we had wanted to visit the parents' house, we would have had to pay an additional 95 Kronen.

In the park that belongs to the museum, we found a cozy swing and relaxed in the shade. We were close to falling asleep.

But then we realized how time was flying by and we continued our journey.

Together with Marek, I went to the Skurugata canyon, located in a national park. On the way there, we had a little incident. The road was normal and I was driving at 70 km/h, as indicated. Suddenly, the paved road turned into a gravel road, which was not visible before and not announced. So, I drove at 70 km/h on the gravel road and we got scared because it sounded like the car was about to fall apart. Oops... I quickly hit the brakes, and luckily, the car didn't get damaged, and neither did we. We continued at a speed of about 40 km/h towards Skurugata.

When we arrived at the parking lot, we were so hungry that we ate the remaining pizza from yesterday first. Then we put on our hiking shoes and started the hike. First, we reached Skuruhatt, from where we had a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. We enjoyed this view for a short while and then continued down to the canyon. The nature there was truly impressive! In some places, when we went deeper into the canyon, it was cooler. That was very pleasant because it was already around 30 degrees again.

After completing the circular route and enjoying the nature, we went back to the car. Then we continued to Gränna, where we met Michi again. The drive there was beautiful. As we passed through the countryside, we saw a lot of the real Swedish nature and many lakes. Simply wonderful! In Gränna, we had to wait for Michi so that we could check-in together at the campsite. He got lost, so we had to wait for about 40 minutes until he finally joined us.

After checking in at the campsite, we first set up my tent. As soon as the tent was set up, it started to rain heavily and the wind picked up. It was really stormy. Since we couldn't get all the pegs properly into the ground because it was so dry, the three of us had to hold the tent firmly. Otherwise, it would have been blown away. While we were standing there, we suddenly saw a tree tipping over on the campsite. We just looked at each other in shock and were simply relieved that we didn't have our tents under any tree.

Meanwhile, a Swede had recognized our predicament and helped us to secure the tent properly again. Fortunately, the storm subsided and we were able to set up the second tent.

We cooked dinner together, rice with vegetables, and then ended the evening with a beer. The weather had improved by then.

After a long but beautiful day, we went to sleep.
