Day 3 - Warner Bros. Theme Park
On this cozy +37 degree morning at 9 o'clock, it's clear: today we're either going to the water park or another air-conditioned park. We decide on the newly opened Warner Bros. Theme Park and we're super excited!
We find the parking lot with an incredible amount of parking spaces. Surprise - we're the first ones! It gives me déjà vu - the same thing happened to us last year when we were almost alone at Legoland, for example.
The park advertises itself with the subtitle:
“The World's Biggest Indoor Theme Park”
So we're excited! At the ticket counter, we're alone for now. We decide on a 3-park combo ticket because we plan on visiting Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld in the next few days anyway.
In the massive hall called “Warner Bros. Plaza”, we stand under an artificial sky and watch the “presentation” of Warner Bros. movie clips that are displayed in 360 degrees around us. Very well done!
Afterwards, we start our journey clockwise in the "Bedrock" theme area. Here, everything is designed in the style of the Flintstones. First attraction: an indoor water ride! Yes, you heard right: INDOOR water ride. However, right after the ride, we regret choosing the water ride as the first attraction. Unfortunately, you get completely soaked when you make the last rapid descent, which doesn't look too dramatic, in the air-conditioned 18-degree hall. I try to dry my pants with the hand dryer in the restroom - it works moderately well.
Next up is "Dynamite Gulch", where we use the Roadrunner coaster "Fast and Furry-Ours" to dry our pants - we ride at least 5 times, no need to wait in line before moving on 😉
After a round with the "Jetsons Orbiter" and the kids taking a spin on the "Crater Crashers" (bumper cars), we head to the "Cartoon Junction" section. Here, we visit the Scooby Doo haunted house and ride the Tom & Jerry coaster, which has the nickname "Swiss Cheese Spin" for good reason: you spin - a lot!!! 🤢🤢🤢
One ride is enough for me, but the kids can't get enough and ride it several more times while my husband and I watch the Cartoon Carousel on the Plaza. We continue through the indoor play hall with a mini freefall tower and several attractions for the younger visitors.
In the "Gotham City" section, it gets dark. It's quite dim and we can already see a huge "saucer-like" vehicle rushing through the hall from afar. What on earth is that???? THE RIDDLER!!!! I rarely see such a cool ride. Initially, I'm worried that I might get sick since it seems to be spinning quite a lot, but after the first adventurous ride, we realize: not so bad - but very fun! 🤪🤪🤪
Next door, another ride is being built. It looks visually similar to the "Puff Paff Girl" ride at the IMG Theme Park.
In the middle of the area, Batman suddenly descends and a showdown unfolds between him, Catwoman, and Joker. While we watch the performance, our son really wants to go to the Joker Funhouse. It's really cool and features the best funhouse mirror maze I've ever seen!!!! Amazing!
We explore all the other attractions and stop for lunch at the "Italian" restaurant. The Gotham City and Metropolis themed areas are also exciting. The highlight is the "Green Lantern" cinema. However, it's not for the faint of heart - it's all very much in the style of a "simulator". One ride is enough for me everywhere, then my stomach protests. However, the rest of the family loves it, even though my son already has a lot of respect for the "dragon" at the Green Lantern cinema.
In the huge hall of the JUSTICE LEAGUE, where all the heroes are portrayed as giant figures, we venture into a simulator adventure: "Warworld Attacks".
We notice that the whole system is not working smoothly during the second part of the adventure when suddenly the projected image on the screen freezes, our "spaceship" shakes, and then everything goes black. Pitch black! 😱😱😱
We're briefly confused, not knowing if this is part of the program or not!? Eventually, the lights come on in the huge hall and our spaceship is pushed back to the "start" where we are allowed to disembark. With a "So sorry" from the staff, the attraction is temporarily closed. Well, maybe next time...
We continue to the Superman cinema and then take another round through the park - so basically the whole program again - and leave the park around 5:30 pm. What a cool day at the cool new indoor park!
In the evening, the adults go out for a drink - it's Ladies Night at Yas Marina - Cheers!
