Woodstock Hotel & Brewpub Campsite, Kaniere
On the recommendation of the mechanic from Greymouth, we drive to Hokitika Gorge, a gorge full of rushing water with a swingbridge over it. After crossing the bridge, we climb down to the riverbed. Now there is a little action! We have booked a quad tour through forest, mud and water at Franz Josef Glacier. And yes, the tour lives up to its promise: after two hours of pure fun, we arrive back in town completely dirty and totally happy. In the evening, we look for a camping site for what feels like an eternity. We end up at an abandoned motel, which, however, reminds more of a haunted house than a campsite. The owner was strange, but very friendly, so we decide to spend the night here.
