From water bottles and endless roads

The greasy burgers and beer did not leave any nightly damage behind, so we head to the hotel's morning buffet. We definitely need new energy for today's stage. Everything packed and off we go. Well, almost, Anja manages to drop her full water bottle right in front of the hotel entrance and it theatrically bursts, water everywhere. Alright, not leaving yet, need to buy a new water bottle in the city. Lucky in misfortune, we are in a city full of shops and not in the lonely wilderness. Water bottle action completed. Anja finds the new one much prettier anyway. We leave Tromsø via the large bridge, passing by the Arctic Cathedral. The road runs parallel to the E8 but is much quieter. The landscape changes into an infinite expanse with mountains getting higher on the left and right, reminding us a lot of Canada. The warming sun makes it easier to ride, traffic is minimal. We take the car ferry from Breivikeidet across the Ullsfjord to Svensby. Here awaits us the next magnificent landscape, the mountains are up to 1500 meters high, glaciers lie on them, and the sea shimmers turquoise. We ride along the small quiet road and everything passes by like in a movie, we are just speechless and quietly enjoy. We follow the Norwegian 'Kystruta 1', a signposted (sometimes more, sometimes less - but that's another topic) bike path. Alta, our next major destination, is marked at 239 kilometers, whether that is motivating or demotivating, we leave that to each cyclist. We found a super nice spot for the tent and call it a day after 76 kilometers and 610 meters of altitude, cooking noodles with cheese sauce. The Freia chocolate did not withstand the ride at 25 degrees so well and has to wait until tomorrow - and so do we. Oh yes, the signposting of the Kystruta today led to a 13-kilometer detour, and the Garmin didn't even notice. But luckily we did notice, and now we sit late in the evening gratefully on this wonderful and still sunny piece of earth, and everything is fine. What are 13 kilometers more.
