Bike Incognito

Hold your breath, the conveyor belt for heavy luggage starts moving. Phew, we got lucky, the two huge boxes are slowly rolling toward us. Bicycles are here, bags are here, so far so good. But how do we get to the nearby, really very nearby Cork Airport Hotel? According to Google Maps, it's a 10-minute walk. Said and done. We load the 2 boxes onto the luggage trolley along with the bags and off we go to the hotel, bumps, curbs - no problem. But a high staircase? Let’s just push the whole cart over the grass right into the hotel. Quite embarrassing, we’re sure to attract attention, oh yes, to make matters worse, it’s raining too. At the hotel, there is a big sign. We only notice one sentence... 'please report suspicious packages to the security...' Do we look suspicious when we’re dragging two oversized boxes to our room? Probably not, the security service didn’t knock on our door, or did we miss something? At the hotel, we unpack the bikes. Lucky us, everything is where it should be and still visually intact. We screw everything together in the hotel room until late into the night, with minor and major losses, Peter seems to have some sort of tendonitis from screwing, Anja cuts her thumb on the cable ties. The usual madness, everything as always. Wish us luck!! Dead tired, but satisfied, we fall asleep. We can leave the boxes at the hotel, in three weeks we will screw again, probably this time without accidents, but with many pictures in our heads and memories in our hearts....
