Two days before the start, we are still sitting late at night in Anja's living room. Her clothes are spread out on the dining table, and the items we both divide among ourselves...

The route is planned, all tickets, night train, train, ferries, bus are bought. We also survived the bag Tetris. So, let's get started. ...
As already written, our travel blog should not be a high-performance kilometer/altitude description. Of course, we have already programmed the route on the Garmin and roughly know what to expect in terms of altitudes and kilometers, but the actual heights lie on the wayside and are in our thoughts and feelings. That's why there is only an 'approximate kilometer description'. Although Anja doesn't believe that Peter will not resist recording every single kilometer. :) But that's okay, after all, we are both already over 100 together, and so you can be proud of every kilometer in the saddle.
Friday evening, July 5th, our biggest adventure of the journey begins. DB night train Basel-Hamburg including 2 bicycles. Let's see if we will spend the start of our journey in the booked sleeping car or maybe even with the bikes together in the luggage car. DB - always good for a surprise. Peter promised not to get nervous. Well, let's see. Expect the worst and hope for the best is our motto. The same applies to the Norwegian weather.
about 7,000 km by train/ferry/bus - about 1,600 km by gravel bike
Basel-Hamburg-Frederikshavn (DK)-ferry to Oslo (NO)-train/night train to Bodo. Ferry Bodo-Moskenes to Lofoten. There our bike tour towards the Midnight Sun to Nordkapp starts. From there, it's another 300 km south to Karasjok and by bus through the Finnish forests to Rovaniemi. From Rovaniemi by night train to Helsinki and by ferry across the Baltic Sea back to Travemünde (D) and finally by train back to Münchenbuchsee. phew.... sounds still quite far when you read it here yourself. Yes, the North is not just around the corner. If all goes well, we will be back on August 5th.
