In the past few days, we have been constantly on the move, visiting at least one sight each day. It’s time to slow down!
We are taking a rest day and considering how and where to proceed. While Anja is browsing travel guides by the hotel pool, the decision is made to extend our stay in Phnom Penh by a week. The trend quickly shifts away from the sea and islands; Battambang, Siem Reap, and Angkor will be the next stops. Especially Angkor Wat has always been the longed-for destination in Cambodia.
In the evening, we take a walk through the surrounding neighborhood to the royal palace. The obviously very popular King Norodom Sihanouk, who passed away in 2012, is still very much present in many places.
