Phnom Penh

The day begins with a breakfast in the Roof Top Lounge above the city's rooftops. Not a bad start!

For our first activity in Phnom Penh, we will visit the Royal Palace and the adjacent Wat Preah Keo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). It is surprisingly quiet, with only a few travel groups around. Most of the buildings in the complex are currently being restored and are unfortunately closed. Photography is prohibited with few exceptions, and where it is allowed, Buddha is omnipresent.

In the courtyard, lovingly maintained, is a model of the Angkor Wat temple complex in the northwest of the country - one of our upcoming travel destinations.
