The day today in Padron was good and after being shocked when we entered the town yesterday, today we were able to explore the beautiful areas. A short walk led us to the Herbon Monastery. It is still operating and is located in the pepper growing region. On the way, we were able to observe the women harvesting and in the evening, we always eat the delicious green things π
Unfortunately, we couldn't enter the monastery garden - the monks wanted to be alone - even the monastery wall was too high for a peek over the garden fence π
Back in Padron, we made ourselves comfortable in the botanical garden with a picnic and spent the afternoon there. Gradually, the new pilgrims also arrived πΆπΏπΆπΏπΆπΏπΆπΏπΆπΏπΆπΏ
Our little stroll through the town took us past the Jakobus Church and another monastery - the Convent de Carmen.
According to legend, Saint James held his first sermon on Spanish soil here in Padron and later his body arrived by ship and was brought from here to Santiago by ox cart.
So tomorrow we will see where he found his final resting place - in the cathedral in Santiago.
Today we also visited the shoe store π from yesterday (Anne's flip flops were done for - seriously!!) and asked the nice salesman to give us a wish for our final journey - because when we were there yesterday, we were amazed that he spoke a bit of German and wore a VfL Wolfsburg fan t-shirt - well Christian, there are true soccer fans here too π
And as luck would have it, Wolfsburg is not playing Dortmund today (your favorite team, Christian / but you probably already know that π€
The poor man was very excited, but as the internet just reported, it didn't go so well for his favorite team π
we wish him ππ for next time anyway.
In any case, he gave us a wish ππ
To end the day, we went to one of the delicious tapas bars - mussels, pimpientos, champies ... yum yum
Tomorrow we have the last stretch ahead of us - about 25 km.
We want to start early and are excited to arrive and who knows, maybe we will even meet old acquaintances ππ»
Good night
