Ok - on to the second stage.

Strengthened after a nice breakfast together for four, Anne and I set off in high spirits despite dark clouds ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

We quickly left the fortress of Valenca and approached the bridge to Spain. And here we already met the first pilgrims who were walking in the same direction.

From today there are still 115,454 km to Santiago de Compostella and we have 6 days ๐Ÿ˜€

Many Spaniards walk from Tui to Santiago, because only the true pilgrim walks the last 100 km to Santiago - without cheating ๐Ÿ˜€

We also did not get a pilgrim's pass here - we stick to our Caminho postcard version and have a wish given to us at every rest stop. We are not here out of religious motivation and do not want to 'abuse' the pass - it is a time we give each other.

In Tui we took a brief look at the beautiful gothic cathedral and then let ourselves be guided out of the city by the shell signage.

We are now in Galicia - a Spanish region that has Celtic origins - here you can also hear the bagpipes

and the horreos - the typical corn storage buildings - are impressive. But I miss the beautiful tiled facades of Portugal - I thought the transition would be smoother. But the landscape, the towns and the architectural styles are very different. It is much greener, more wooded and we walk along many small streams that are crossed by medieval bridges from time to time. Here you can especially feel that these bridges have already been crossed by many feet.

The thick clouds accompanied us and occasionally there was a heavy rain shower. But that was not a problem - we had fun in our rain gear - a bad taste party ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

In the afternoon the ๐ŸŒž came out and we happily arrived in O Porrino ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿฟ

The town is not particularly pretty, but we all found everything here to repair our trekking poles - so it was craft time again โœ‚๏ธ

And on the Lugar (square) here in the town there was a election campaign today ๐Ÿ˜€ Everywhere election posters and the candidates presented their programs.

Democracy in Spanish ๐Ÿ˜€

With our refurbished trekking poles, we will continue to Redondela tomorrow.
