Valencia 3. Tag

we=143:3-on the way

So today is the 3rd day in Valencia, and it started with RAIN. It's a shame - so I bought umbrellas again. Walked through the old town with the newly acquired umbrellas and then looked for a taxi.

That brought us to our little orange tree on the Finca NARANJAS DEL CARMEN. A really large plantation run by two brothers with a team of around 50 people. What's special: They sell their products directly to end customers and not to wholesalers or supermarket chains. Customers “adopt” one (or several) of the finca’s trees and undertake to purchase a certain amount of fruit each season.

We were greeted by the farm dog ZAAR, who really wanted to throw sticks. AMANDA (an employee who originally comes from Munich) led us to our little tree and further across part of the finca. There are also lots of chickens, roosters, geese and rabbits living here under the many trees. These tours are only available to customers (a total of around 13,000 customers in Europe!) It is a major logistical effort to pack all the packages, especially since it is not just oranges and lemons that are being sent. (Here's everything you need to know:

We also got a sample of the jams and olive oils. A nice idea was to enter the guest book with a photo. It took some time before a taxi took us back to Valencia. After all, it's almost 25 kilometers and there are no taxis waiting for customers out here. It was fun and very interesting.

Back in the old town of Valencia, we were able to quickly buy rice and beans for paella at home before the hall closed for the day. Churros were also available outside the market.

Today we also climbed the former city gate TORRES DELS SERRANS. For an entrance fee of two euros you can climb 132 steps to reach the highest point. The view over the city center and Turia Park was impressive. With slightly wobbly knees we got back down and continued on into the ROYAL GARDENS. Also worth seeing. However, the weather didn't invite us to linger. Back to the old town, espresso and stuff.

And then it was time for dinner. At LAS CUEVAS there were again delicious tapas and a burger with chicken, fried egg and bacon and lots of XL fries. Yummy!

In summary I can say:

This trip was great. I think we all had fun and made a lot of great memories. For me, I can say that I enjoyed every single hour (even if my legs wouldn't say the same.)

I am very grateful that I was able to gain these experiences and memories. The trip was well organized and we had no standstill.

See you soon
