Harlesiel
The weather forecast was not such that we were beaming with joy as we headed north. The journey was more pleasant than we expected - there was little traffic on the motorways. It was clear that the A45 would be completely closed in Lüdenscheid because of the missing bridge. It didn't make much of a difference in terms of time and was something different than just driving on the "motorway".
We arrived after about seven hours of driving in sunshine and were then able to enjoy the port of Harlesiel. The small outdoor pool by the sea closed promptly at 5 p.m., and the young and old still needed an ice cream or a beer or a quick meal.
After a delicious dinner of smoked matjes, we went back along the old harbor. Lots of holiday homes and hotels as well as restaurants were still waiting for more guests; with today's Germany/Denmark soccer match, they will probably only make it until kick-off - unless there is a big screen inviting people to watch and celebrate together.
It was not to be expected that the game would be interrupted due to a very heavy thunderstorm. At least the party here on the beach in Harlesiel continued unabated and the ball was rolling again after about 20 minutes. We kept our fingers crossed for the German team.
See you soon
