Finally at the sea!

Even the longest journey has to come to an end eventually. We had just over 600 km ahead of us when we set off with the loaded little car. First to the North Sea for some days and then to Travemünde – Baltic Sea. The anticipation was huge; we had planned to escape the very warm south. The journey had some construction sites and a longer traffic jam in store for us. In the time we spent on the various highways, I could have easily knitted a sock for myself.

Then at last, East Frisia lay before us; the family was already waiting. The sun was not beating down quite so hard on us; sunscreen was still very sensible, despite the advanced time of day. Not forgetting the sun hat and taking a jacket as a precaution, I definitely wanted to get to the sea (which guide sadly had not yet arrived) or to the mudflat lookout to enjoy a beer from here.

A little walk after the long drive not only did good for my knee. Unfortunately, there were no shady spots available there – but there was a beer in a small corner; ice ice cream was also great in that weather. Then a little walk along the beach to room No.1 (a simple door on the beach to open) and back again with family. The water had not completely arrived yet; some guests were only standing in the water up to their knees. The tide was not expected to reach its peak here until around 20:32 h. We didn’t want to wait that long; after all, dinner with matjes and Frisian potato salad was announced. That was certainly more tempting than the North Sea. A delicious dinner, and it was already bedtime for us. Such a long day eventually winds down.
