Tuscany Tour Day 4 and 5 (Pictures Part 1)
Drive to Tenero and visit to Locarno
Actually, about 4 hours of driving time from Freiburg to Tenero was planned, where we want to stay for a few days. However, these 4 hours were exceeded by several hours, as we had to stop at a car workshop because the engine warning light prompted us to have the engine checked.
The workshop read everything and deleted the error message, as they found nothing wrong. After that, nothing else appeared. The camper also drove normally despite the warning message. The workshop employee said we should not worry at the moment; it might not be anything serious. The camper also had a service check before our vacation.
Additionally, there was once again a long traffic jam in front of the Gotthard tunnel.
By coincidence, at a rest area where we stopped for a short break, the 80-euro Waldi, a dealer from the TV show 'Bares für Rares', suddenly stood next to us. And as it is with him, he greeted me right away with 'Engelchen', his standard address for every woman.
Well, after a long odyssey, we finally made it to our stopover in Tenero.
Since it was already late and we were quite exhausted, we went out for pizza, as we did not feel like preparing something ourselves anymore.
After a restful night, we then made our way to Locarno by ship.
Locarno is a town on Lake Maggiore and is located in the south of
Switzerland in the canton of Ticino.
The old town offers many shops and cafes. The Piazza Grande is the heart of Locarno.
The Piazza Grande is also the starting point for many sights in the city. All the narrow alleys that wind their way up from Piazza Grande between the houses lead to the old town.
These passages once served as escape routes when the lake flooded the square. Today, they still provide convenient access to the charming old town of Locarno.
The sanctuary 'Madonna del Sasso', a gem of narrow streets, pretty shops, inviting cafes, and historic buildings, is also reachable from Piazza Grande.
Many historical buildings and also beautiful churches can be admired in the old town. Among them are the church 'Santa Maria Assunta' as well as the church 'St. Antonius Abbas' and also the 'Palazzo Morettini' and the 'Casa dei Canonici'.
In the evening, we grilled and enjoyed delicious food before we ended the day later.
