On June 12th we continued east. Our destination was Monument Valley with its characteristic rock formations, which featured in many "Westerns" of the 50s and 60s. Some of today's viewpoints are named after directors and actors.
Before we arrived in Monument Valley, we visited a historic fort in Bluff. It is maintained and cared for by private individuals without any government subsidies.
After the Mexican Hat, a rock formation, we thought we saw traffic jams on the road. But it was just a bus full of teenagers who were reenacting the famous Forrest Gump scene (mass jogging) and almost brought the traffic to a standstill.
After we had moved into our room/cottage, we went for dinner and sunset.
