Special for the 'Art Deco Festival Napier'

In 1931, large parts of Napier were destroyed by an earthquake, resulting in numerous fatalities. In the following years, the downtown area of Napier was rebuilt in the Art Deco style, which is why Napier calls itself the 'Art Deco Capital City.'

The Art Deco Festival Napier commemorates this significant yet also forward-looking event... and we happened to have the luck of being able to participate in this festival for a day and a half. The special thing: The festival not only remembers the earthquake and the rebuilding but also the 1930s, a time of cultural and individual awakening. What makes it truly special is that all generations take part in this festival, actively as organizers or guides or helpers... and passively as guests ✨
