This will exclusively be about the day of arrival. That was a day I don't need to experience again anytime soon.
All suitcases were packed and a wise decision was made to drive to Berlin on Saturday and sleep in a very nice accommodation there. Many thanks for that. Because on the morning of the next day and the departure, there was a big surprise: it snowed. Until half past eleven, there were several full closures on the A9 and the probability of missing the test and the plane was rarely so high. But fortunately, a different decision had been made.
Early in the morning, off to the test center, that went smoothly, because no Berliner wanted to drive a car in the snow on Sunday morning... We rarely saw such empty streets, but it may be due to the lockdown. The test station had a drive-in station, but that didn't stop a Berliner from getting in line with their car. Otherwise, the swab was very gently done and fortunately the test result was negative. Later we went to the brand new BER airport. And from that point on, you can say that the long wait began...
My flight to Oslo was delayed by one and a half hours due to the delayed arrival in Berlin and the boarding counter at the gate. It regularly said goodbye after a few minutes. The flight itself was very nice, but I couldn't fully enjoy it because I already saw my connecting flight to Bergen flying away. So in Oslo, quickly through passport control, and picked up the luggage and asked at the counter, but in vain rushed. Unfortunately, the nice lady couldn't reach anyone at the gate by phone. So they rebooked me on the next flight, which fortunately left on the same day and started at half past eight. As some may know, checked luggage is usually led to the connecting flight itself, but due to Corona, they were forced to check it in again. But I had plenty of time for that now. The flight to Bergen went smoothly and I hoped that the bus that was supposed to take me to the hotel was still waiting for me. But as soon as I landed, Pia (she was already on the bus because she made it on the flight to Bergen that we wanted to take together) wrote to me that they would now leave and that the bus would be back in one and a half hours. So I was sitting at the airport again, waiting. By now I was really hungry, because except for breakfast in the morning and two mandarins in between, I hadn't eaten anything. Unfortunately, the shops at Bergen Airport were already closed, so I settled for a cough drop, which turned out to be a bad idea in the end. Luckily, the bus arrived around eleven, but the bus driver said he was still waiting. He had done that on every trip. So keep waiting..... Fortunately, he finally drove off shortly after twelve. On the drive, I noticed that the cough drop didn't agree so well with my empty stomach. That's why I was very relieved to arrive at the hotel around quarter to one. At the end of the day, I felt sick and gave up my long-awaited dinner and just fell into bed.
Without Pia, who prepared me for the wait and promised me dinner, it would definitely have been more difficult to wait. And it can only get better from here and I did arrive somehow, just a bit later than expected. :D
