Well, it's been a long time since something new came here, but it was just very busy last month. I am now in my next and hopefully last quarantine. Although it is much nicer and tastier than the one half a year ago. But back to the topic...
On Monday, both of us returned from Stavanger with a cold. But that didn't stop us from starting Pia's birthday (June 1st) on Tuesday with a delicious pancake breakfast, as unfortunately it had to be canceled on the weekend due to circumstances. The weather was great, the sun was shining, and it was pleasantly warm. After breakfast, we baked cinnamon buns for the afternoon, which we spent together with a few friends at Gamlehaugen by the water. There was a lot going on in the meadows of the royal residence in Bergen. Many teenagers with their mega large speakers filled the view. In Norway, it is also common to have a speaker the size of a normal travel suitcase. Probably these are often remnants from their party month at the end of school or it is just trendy.
Through Stavanger, Pia and I were well hardened, but the water in the fjord also felt at least 5 degrees warmer, so we were in the water in no time. Anyway, we were in for a long time and swam a little. Unfortunately, the starfish that someone had seen the week before was no longer in its place. Outside, we lay on the lawn and let the sun shine on our bellies. We also had delicious cinnamon buns and ice cream. I wasn't so well warmed up for a second round of swimming and only stayed in for a moment. But that was enough for me to scrape my shin against the shell-covered stones on my way out. Pia had more warmth and stayed in a little longer.
After another round of sunbathing, we packed up and went back to the dorm, because we had something planned for the evening. Together with Paula, the Spaniard from Pia's kitchen, we wanted to hike up Løvstakken and watch the sunset at 11 p.m. It was still warm and the way up made us sweat a little, but it was as wonderful as always. I really miss it. We were also on time to watch the beautiful spectacle relaxed from a nice spot. It was really great minutes. Only the mosquitoes wanted to dine at sunset and annoyed us. But they were easy to ignore. After the sun was gone, we made our way back. It was bright enough to come down safely without any additional light.
The day was a successful day. Pancake breakfast, swimming in the fjord, and enjoying the sunset on Løvstakken in the evening. These days are really rare, so it's even more beautiful that we could share it together in Bergen. What a birthday, happy birthday Pia!
