Continued journey to Chiang Mai on 06.10.18
After 2 nights in Bangkok, we packed our backpacks again and made our way to the airport. From there, we flew with Air Asia to the north of Thailand, more precisely to Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand, after Bangkok. However, we liked it much better here than in the giant metropolis. The air in particular is much more pleasant here.
Our accommodation in Chiang Mai was located a bit off the main roads, which were heavily trafficked. However, it was still centrally located, so we could easily reach the beautiful Thai markets and the historic old town on foot, with all its sights.
On the first day, we took a walk and explored the immediate surroundings of our hotel. We also replenished our water supply and looked for something to eat.
On day 2, we decided to take a taxi to the city park and visit the public playground there with Ben, which, for Thai standards, was very nice and tidy. We spent the afternoon comfortably at the hotel pool ;-).
Day 3. Elephant Nature Park...
09.10. - Early in the morning, we were picked up by a small bus at the hotel. It took us far out of the city and into the northern jungle of Thailand. There is the Elephant Nature Park. It is a park where elephants, who were previously held captive and mistreated, are now cared for and given a new, safe home. It is a very beautifully landscaped park where not only elephants, but also buffalos, dogs, cats, and horses live together peacefully. For us, this has been one of the most beautiful days of the trip so far.
Day 4. Today we were on the playground again and then walked all the way through Chiang Mai back to the hotel on foot. Along the way, we passed a huge Thai market that we had not discovered yet, even though it is only a few streets away from our hotel. The day itself was very relaxed and we were able to recharge our batteries in the afternoon at the pool. In the evening, we decided to walk there again and buy some fruit and food.
Days 5 and 6. Doing laundry, packing our bags, and off to the airport.
Soon...Koh Lipe (Maldives of Thailand)
