Sequoia National Park

After leaving Santa Cruz on Wednesday evening, we drove into the night to get as close to Sequoia National Park as possible and set up camp. On Thursday (14.08.), we had breakfast in the van, but unfortunately, I started to develop cold symptoms (mainly a runny nose and clogged sinuses). We entered the park and went on a small hike towards the General Grant Tree. I loved the scenery, and those enormous Sequoia trees are breathtaking. After that, we continued on to see the General Sherman Tree as well. At 84m tall and 11m wide, it's one of the largest trees in the world, and it's also around 2200 years old. Standing beneath it and looking up gives you the same perspective as a mouse looking up at a human. It was awe-inspiring!

We then drove into the night again to reach Brian's friend Aaron, who has a house at the edge of Sequoia National Forest, high in the mountains, in a place called Kennedy Meadows. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it there because it took longer than expected, and I was feeling very fatigued. So, we camped near a little stream.

The next morning, on Friday, I was feeling somewhat better. We had a quick dip in the stream and then drove to Aaron's place, where we were greeted with great hospitality. We made lunch, took showers, and Brian worked on some van issues. More about our stay here will follow. 😁
