January 12, 2024 Antarctica
After the rather rough journey, during which it even snowed, the sea suddenly became calmer as we entered Gerlache Strait, our ship sailed more slowly and icebergs appeared in increasing numbers. Some single mountains had tunnel-like holes and they looked like floating palaces. The closer we got to Paradise Bay, the more we were surrounded by snow-capped mountains and icebergs. Penguins and whales also appeared. Occasionally the whales would wave at us with their tails as they dived. In the evening we had reached Paradise Bay and the ship was standing still; A dinghy was launched and several photographers were brought closer to the whales. We were able to watch the action through the dining room windows during dinner.
What a magical place!
In the evening the on-board orchestra played its program "Center Stage", which left me with an overwhelming impression. that my surroundings had impressed on me, unfortunately I couldn't inspire him.
