As planned yesterday, we packed our backpack in the morning and headed east on foot. We followed the waterline, which was about two hundred meters ahead of the cliffs during low tide at noon.
Sebb nearly stepped on a sea urchin that had been washed up right before our feet by the surf. You could clearly see the five teeth of its mouth on the underside.
After about two hours, as the shadows grew longer, we began our return journey to be back in the village before the highest tide, as it would otherwise make our return much more difficult. Along the way, we passed some spots where streams sought their way through the now almost dry beach. The cold water of the streams contrasted with the warm sea water at our feet.
We reached the promenade of Wissant with the high tide, but we got wetter than expected because the surf was throwing waves that were already a meter high before the promenade.
Back in the village, we treated ourselves to coffee and a large pot of mussels in garlic cream sauce while swallows flew in and out beneath a roof overhang above us.
