Today we were scheduled to meet at the beach at 10:00 AM to rent a surfboard. The surf school here consisted only of a parked van from which the boards were rented and where people also gathered in the morning for surf lessons. While we simply got a board, the surf course began for the other attendees. We rented just one board for both until 12:30 PM, when the surf school ended and we would return our board together with the surf students. The tide was currently high and the beach was significantly narrower than yesterday afternoon. Ines was allowed to start with the board because she had a weekly conference call with her colleague scheduled for 11:00 AM. While Ines was on the phone, Sebb actually managed to ride one or two waves. That was a great achievement!
Later, when Ines finished her call, she was able to start riding the waves again, but by that time her surfing time had already been reduced to under an hour.
It was 12:15 PM when we finally ended our surfing and returned the board. For beginners, surfing primarily consisted of running into the waves, laying on the board, paddling, balancing, doing push-ups to get up, tipping over, resurfacing, and then pulling the board away from the beach; so it was about treading water, paddling, and push-ups.
We returned to Gary, showered, and while Sebb was sleeping, Ines logged into work with her laptop and was on the phone again. There was a little more to do today.
Dinner was at a cozy bar in town, near the pilgrim hostel. Unfortunately, the food, the first time in Spain, was only of mediocre quality. However, since the beer only cost €3.50 for 0.5 liters and we got full plates for just €8.50, it was still quite okay.
On the way home, we picked a lime from the roadside, and we almost harvested oranges from a wild fruit garden, but they remained unreachable due to the tall trees and dense blackberry bushes. We naturally left the beautiful, ripe lemons from the neighbor's garden untouched.
