La Caridad

We drove back through the industrial area. At one of the roundabouts, we encountered an unexpected oncoming traffic. We suspected that the pipes were segments of wind turbines.

We found a nice 48-hour parking spot at Playa Pormenande and the neighboring Playa de la Calina. It was supposed to be the last stop before Santiago de Compostela.

We quickly left the rainy area of Avilés behind us on the well-known A8. Perhaps it was also the rain that had simply moved on.

We were now in La Caridad and enjoyed beautiful sunshine again. Finally, we could hang out our neoprene suits, which had still been damp since the day before, to dry in the sun.

The first trip to the beach was surprisingly 'rocky'. We had gotten used to the beautiful sandy beaches over the past few days and were a bit surprised to find that ‘Playa Pormenande’ was made up of stones about the size of a fist.

After a short break, we hiked along a marked trail above the cliffs to the next village and back again.

We ended the evening at the beach bar with a round of backgammon.

Tomorrow we would continue from Asturias to Galicia.
