Today we should go to the beach after a little hike.
It was Monday and the bar closed after the lunch rush, so we paid for another night in advance as soon as we set off.
We walked through the fishing harbor and along the Rio Arade, through the narrow streets of the beautiful little town and up to the 'Castelo de Ferragudo' with the large beach. It was impressive how many storks had built their nests here. We wondered if the large migratory birds had their summer or winter quarters here. Our research indicated that the storks actually leave the region towards East Africa in August, but the number that remained here over the winter has probably increased recently. Anyway, there were a lot of storks there.
Then we walked along the coastal trail and up the cliffs to the lighthouse 'Farol da Ponta do Altar'.
Now we had seen all the beaches and walked back to Praia Grande, so we could finally swim and sunbathe.
After two hours we had enough and walked back to Gary.
For dinner, we had rice again today, this time with fried tomatoes.
