In the meantime, we sharpened our plan regarding the route. We would head north in Germany, maybe to Hamburg, perhaps to Flensburg, and then we could possibly take a trip to the Viking Museum Haitabu. After that, we would head west. The Netherlands, Amsterdam is supposed to be very worth seeing. Belgium, if only for the cuisine. How about a trip to Brussels to see the EU Parliament building? We would then continue on to France, where we could wave at the ferries to Great Britain in Calais. Then on to Brittany to reach the westernmost point of France near Brest. On the way there, one would actually have to pass by the small village of the indomitable Gauls, right? Now we would head south, and there should also be a stop at Lit-Et-Mixe. Ines associated this place name with many memories of vacations by the sea, waves, and beach.
Then off to Spain, what sights could we discover along Spain's coasts? We would find out. And then the westernmost part of our journey; Portugal! Yes, it had already drawn us here for our honeymoon, and since then we had returned twice. But always just Portugal, that was too boring for Sebb. In Portugal, however, we would probably spend most of our time. We would continue along the coast, through the Algarve to the Spanish side of the Strait of Gibraltar. By the Mediterranean, we would head back to France and return.
Would it actually make sense to buy wetsuits and surfboards in Germany, or is it better to get them at the vacation spot from a specialist dealer? We could also wish for these things for our birthday.
Could you actually buy the same gas cylinders everywhere as at home? Would the gas cylinders in Spain fit in our motorhome? The answer was: No. You needed four different adapters in Europe and then also a bottle adapter for the Spanish and Portuguese click-on bottles.
Diesel was and remained Diesel; hopefully, we wouldn't have to worry about that, right?
