A bit fresh

We had decided to stay another day. The people here were super nice and the area seemed worth a stroll.

We were concerned that the city beach would be crowded today, on Saturday, so we looked for a beach a bit further away. The North Beach, where the big wave rolled in during winter, was almost an hour's walk away. The South Beach was also a bit further but not quite as far, so it became our destination for today.

After breakfast, we strolled along the promenade to the south. The path took us around the harbor, past shipyards, fishing boats, jet ski rentals, and the lifeguard station.

We scrambled over the dune and were the only people around at the beach. Once we found a nice spot to spread our blanket, it soon became clear why we were alone here. The wind blowing from the sea was so cold that we soon put on our jackets. After an hour, we were almost frozen, so we packed our things and started moving again. A little further south, we encountered the Rio Alcobaça, where we then went inland again. Hardly had we left the beach behind when it noticeably became warmer. Our beach outing had turned out to be much shorter than we had originally planned.

We walked back to Gary and cooked a soljanka from the last leftovers of the barbecue from two days ago, played for a while, and took a nice break.

On the evening of this Friday, we went with the neighbors to the very well-visited promenade to watch the sunset. In a small bar on the street, you could simply take your beer glass with you to the promenade. When the sun was long gone and the bar closed at 9:00 PM, we moved on to the next one, where it continued a bit further.

We finally got to bed quite late after a very enjoyable evening.
