Travel Health Insurance

The insurance advisor came to us. The task was to take out a travel health insurance for the duration of the trip.
We were both covered by statutory health insurance, which worked in Germany, but not across all of Europe, especially not for this duration. Yes, there was the so-called EU insurance agreement, according to which statutory health insurance would cover basic healthcare in other member states, but only standard local basic care.

There were several questions regarding the duration and locations of our stay, our age, health status, and so on...
At the end of the consultation, the advisor calculated a price for us:

“That comes to just over €800...”

We looked at each other and had to take a deep breath.

Then the advisor continued.

“...for the entire duration and for both of you together.”

Now we were even more astonished. That was an amazing offer. Calculated, that was only about €45 per person per month. We asked again, could that be? After all, we had a rough idea of what statutory health insurance deducted from our salaries each month.

The advisor confirmed the numbers. The insurance had a lot of statistical data as a basis and did not expect us to claim benefits.

We were very satisfied and booked it. Another item on the preparation list was completed.
