On Sunday, we went to an island not far (15 minutes by ferry) from Auckland with a few people (Joe from Rosenheim, Mélinda, Héléna, and Elodie from France - we met them at the Nomads Hostel). This island, called Rangitoto Island, had a volcano that last erupted in 1840. The entire island was covered in lava rock. We then hiked up the volcano, which was tough but worth it for the view. Afterwards, we explored the island and climbed in lava caves.
