So, after a week in Shanghai City, we have finally arrived at our final destination. Internally, this place is referred to as the Shithole of Shanghai, but honestly, it's not that bad. To give a bit of background: at the beginning, we were spoiled with the vibrant downtown area. The fact that, like at every university, the technical campus is located somewhere else (40 minutes by Uber from the first hotel) has drastically changed our quality of life. We are staying in a former hotel that has seen better days, but it is affordable (€250) and close to the exceptionally large Tongji-Jiading campus.
Over the weekend, we already went out to Ins to party. The group was a mix of Spaniards, Germans, and Italians, around 30 people in total, and I got home at 7 in the morning. The fixer sponsored both free entry and drinks (considering the gin and tonic prices at €13, that’s quite nice). So much for the first two weeks.
